Muriatic Acid Spill in Medford, New York
June 2008
7 People went to the hospital following this fork lift incident where several drums of muriatic acid spilled on the floor of a Lowe's Store in New York. Two people suffered burns while another five were treated for respiratory problems. Interestingly enough we were able to find this clip on Youtube.com where a Lowes's employee doing doughnuts on a forklift.
Walkway Collapse
In 2000 the Lowe's Motor Speedway in Concord was the site of a pedestrian bridge collapse in which more than 100 people were injured. The incident triggered several dozen cases against Lowe's which took years to litigate.USA Today
Unpaid Overtime
As many as 75,000 were involved in a case which alleged that Lowe's tried to get around minimum wage laws by converting employees who worked more than 40 hours a week to management positions where they' be exempt. It further alleges that the methods used to calculate overtime pay for hourly workers was skewed in favor of Lowe's in a way that violated the Federal Minimum Wage Act.
